The 56th edition of the national photography competition and exhibition, organized annually by the Malta Photographic Society, opened on Friday 10 December 2021 at the headquarters of the Malta Society of Arts (MSA), Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta.

This annual event, the only one of its kind on our islands, attracts a large number of local photographers who submit their best work to compete for the honors bestowed by the Malta Photographic Society. The works of the highest artistic quality are then exhibited in the prestigious exhibition which, year after year, attracts many visitors.

Through this event, the Malta Photographic Society offers the possibility to its members and to others who practice this form of art to see their works exhibited; something that is not always easy to do individually. The work of the Malta Photographic Society never stops when it comes to providing exhibition spaces for photographers, putting them on an equal footing with other artists in other forms of photography. art, giving photography the importance it deserves.

This year saw a record number of submissions for the photography competition. A total of 81 photographers submitted 720 photos. Among these, the jury chose the best works to be exhibited at the Palazzo de La Salle.

Visitors to the MSA’s art galleries will enjoy over 100 printed and framed photographs, as well as over 150 digital photos displayed on a monitor.
